The Lazy Eye
Right now I am sitting in the study area of the Tanner. The boy sitting next to me is asleep. He is laying on the desk in such a way that the skin on the side of his face that is touching the desk is stretching his eyelid so that his eye is halfway open. It is really, really freaking me out. I might have to move my stuff. He has been asleep for a while and I don't think that I can take it anymore. Don't you all feel lucky that you don't have the lazy eye haunting you right now?

Barn Dancing!
Last weekend our stake had a barn dance out in Herriman. It was absolutely amazing! Totally legit too - no fake/modern country music. There was live music, fiddles, an accordion, guitars, and everything you need to make a true western-style hoe-down!
The musicians even taught us several REAL western dances like the Statue boogie and the Virginia Reel!
I must admit, the boys did look sexy in their boots and hats. :)
The girls looked great too! Some were in overalls, others in pioneer-style dresses. Unfortunately I didn't even have a bandana to spice up my outfit, but I did have my hair in pigtails (it was just too short to French Braid).
Overall, everybody had a blast!

Valentines Day!
In case any of you don't know, Valentine's Day is one of my absolute favorite holidays! So of course, I had a party to celebrate!
First, everyone got a name-tag with a flirtatious action of it (Wink at me, touch my elbow, blow me a kiss, etc.) Whenever you wanted to talk to that person, you did the action. It was a blast!
Everyone also got a bag with their name on it, and you could make Valentines to drop in people's bags. If it sounds a little "elementary school" to you, you are right, but we all loved it! Some of the guys made the best Valentines!
There was also a pick-up-line station, where you could write your best pickup lines for everyone to enjoy. This was a HUGE hit! We had about fifty pick-up-lines by the end of the night! I personally liked the accounting ones best: Marry Me...Lets make a tax deduction. :)
There was also a place to decorate cookies. I had heart shaped cookies, red hots, pink and white frosting, and sprinkles that all could use. It was pretty much amazing!

Enrichment Activity
Okay, first off I have to say that this is my 100th Blog post! Horray for me!
Anyways, I just had to tell you all about our amazing enrichment activity last night. At seven all the girls in our stake went up to hear Sister Tanner, the old General Young Women's President, speak.
Right before the activity I was at Rebecca's house, and I really, REALLY did not want to leave and go to "another hour-and-a-half meeting!" But Rebecca told me that Satan must really not want me to go since I had such a bad attitude about it. I decided she was probably right, so I drove home, changed out of my warm, cozy sweats and into a cold and drafty skirt, and walked all the way to the Joseph Smith building with my friends Leah and Kadi.
Sister Tanner's thoughts were amazing. She talked about how we are all women of worth. She talked about our divine roles and nurturing/loving nature. She talked about remembering that we are a daughters of God, and that He is looking out for us no matter where life takes us.
After Sister Tanner, Stake President Wilkey spoke. I found his thoughts even more moving. He talked about being "Worthy, Willing Women of Worth." He also gave us seven little "themes," one for each day of the week. He talked a lot about his mother, who recently passed away. I felt very moved by all of his insights, and it made me really proud to be a woman in this amazing gospel.
After the speakers, they released us all by relief society, and we were told which door to exit. A little odd. I kept thinking "Are they worried about security? Probably not since they didn't watch anybody coming in. Crowd control? It isn't THAT crowded in here..."
My ward exited the north entrance of the building. Who should be there but all the boys in our ward, waiting to escourt us to a secret location. :)
Each guy escourted one or two girls to the Wilk, where they had reserved one of the second floor rooms and set up tables with table cloths and roses and pink, red, and white M&M's. The boys (and just the boys - not Bishop or anything, just the good old boys our age) put on a little program letting us know how much they appreciated us. One of the boys played the piano and sang. It was beautiful.
We were then served our choice of Triple Chocolate, Carrot, White, or Dark Forrest Cake. I had the white cake, and it was delicious. After that, the guys made sure that we all had rides home. pretty much one of the most amazing evenings I have ever had.
So I guess I just wanted to say thank you to a few people. First of all, my sister - for knowing better than I did, and not letting me stay. Second, The boys in my ward, for being so amazing and so willing to make us all feel like we truly are woth it. Third, the women in my life who have really made a difference - especially my mom. I cannot even begin to express everything she has done for me, but I know that my life is everything it is because of her. And lastly, God, for knowing me better than I know myself, and truly believing in me no matter what.

Night at the Museum
So last weekend I went on a date to the Springville Museum of Art. Let me tell you, it was a blast! It is so refreshing to be in an art museum! It is like a step out of your own monotonous life into the imagination and creativity of someone else's mind. Art always makes me think about what is important to me, which begs the question:
You can't see the top of this one, but it looks a little like a drop of water. Very cool idea. Plus, my face looks good in it. :)
This one is called Light-Spring. It is very neat because the stone it is made out of is translucent, so you can see light shining through it on the thinner parts. It also have reallt impressive detail all around it, which you can't really see. Haveing attempted stone carving myself, and knowing how rediculously difficult it is, I am just in awe of this piece!
Ok, this is a distorted view of a stamp. On the other side of the room they have the artists depiction of how the stamp actually looks. It was very cool to be able to see the same picture in two completely different styles. Oh yeah, and this is Zach Workman. He took me out to the museum. He is totally awesome. ;)
The ultimate Gem of the trip; what I like to call the "Kissy Poster." Just in case it is too hard to read, this is what it says: "Good-Night Kiss of Sunlight with King Sol and Princess Loafer illustrating One Hour of Poetic and Romantic Love." I don't really know why I get such a kick out of this, but I really do! Probably "Princess Loafer" and "Poetic and Romantic Love." Just so funny!
Well, now that I have given you just a small sample of what lies int he Museum, what are you waiting for? A land of art and imagination awaits you! If you do go, visit the lower level gallery - my brother-in-law has two pieces there. So go, and have yourself an adventure!

Love's and Not-so-Much's
So here is just a little list of things that happen in life that I couldn't (and could) live without:
LOVE
1. Unexpected pictures that catch people's personalities perfectly
2. The hum/vibration of a car when you are traveling from one place to another
3. The glimmer of snow that makes it look like fairy dust
4. Getting unexpected gifts from anonymous givers
5. The way my breath sticks to my glasses when I walk into the wind on a cold day
6. Hearing the front door open and knowing someone that I love just walked in
7. The way polarized sunglasses make everything look more colorful
8. The way normal glasses make everything look more clear
9. The funny shapes that water makes when thrown it into the air
10. When I stand next to someone who is wearing a particularly delightful cologne
NOT-SO-MUCH
1. That crusty stuff on dishes that come out of the dishwasher when you didn't clean the dishes enough before you put them in.
2. Freezer Burn on ANYTHING
3. Slipping on the ice in a very public place, then having people look away to laugh so they don't embarrass me. Why not smile and ask how I am?
4. The smell of moldy carpet in the house because everyone walked on the carpet with wet shoes
5. Getting error messages on my computer
6. Losing important notes for school
7. Having a whole day go by without getting a phone call
8. When a draft blows a poster or calendar off the wall and it bends a little and the bend glares at me forever saying "You should have hung me with something more secure!"
9. When my stomach hurts but I have to pretend it doesn't hurt because I am in a crowd with a bunch of people who don't know me and could care less if I am in pain
10. Running out of anything used in the bathroom (TP, facewash, shampoo)

Things I love about Winter in Provo!
Ok, so I am not the biggest winter person. Most of the time I just wish the snow would all go away and we could have spring and summer again! But still, there are some awesome things I love about winter!
Here it goes:
Some of my friends in the ward are the most talented snowflake makers I have ever seen! They have decorated their apartment as a winter wonderland with snowflakes hanging from the ceiling! It is so much fun! And their snowflakes are even better than these ones!

I have so many new and absolutely beautiful winter coast this winter! Thank you so much, Mom!
Probably one of my favorite things to do this winter is wear warm socks around! It is so fun to break my fuzzy pink and blue socks out of storage and wear them again!

Thankful Thursday!
Okay, so I remember a long time ago we had some babysitters for an entire week. They were the nicest people and we really liked them, but young as we were, we still decided to play a few little tricks on them. :)
We convinced them that before meals our family always placed the plates upside-down, knelt on the chairs and said blessing. We taught their baby daughter how to play "see-food" at dinner. My favorite "family tradition" was "Thankful Thursday." It was supposedly every Thursday in November, and you could not do anything before you said something you were thankful for. At the time it was a silly trick, but it has become one of my favorite personal traditions.
Well, it is the first Thursday in November, so that makes it Thankful Thursday! I am thankful for family, friends, and the gospel! All are a great blessing in my life.
Today I am feeling especially thankful for the opportunity I have to get a good education. School may be hard, but it opens up so many windows of opportunity that I would not otherwise have. I am so blessed to be able to get a good education with good professors at a great school.
So, to all those out there that made this opportunity possible for me, I just want to say Thanks!

Things I am grateful for...
Ok, this week has been pretty intense with midterms and stuff going on, so here is my personal little pick-me-up. It is amazing how much there really is to be grateful for when you think about it, so here is the highly condensed list!
1. My Mom - because when I call every five minutes she says, "Amy! It has been so long!" instead of "What is it now?" I love the way she makes time to talk to me, and the great advice she gives. She is the reason I am the person that I am today, and I could never thank her enough for it. I love you, Mom!
2. My Dad - because when my stories get a little wild he holds his arm up and says, "It is getting deep in here, and I want to save my watch!" and when I am having a pity party he rubs his fingers together and says "You see this? It is my little violin." I love that my dad can cheer me up no matter what. He encourages me to be all that I can. Most of all, he believes in me, and he helps me believe in myself. I love you, Dad!
3. My Siblings - because we know how to have fun! I remember family football games on thanksgiving, Dodger dogs at the game, roller blading, slurpees, Settlers of Catan, Balderdash, movies, and just plain hanging out. i know that my siblings will be there when I need them. They love me, and I love them! I feel blessed to have four amazing siblings that I get along with so well.
4. My Friends - lets face it, up at school these people have a HUGE impact on my life. Luckily, I have picked some real winners! I can't tell you how many amazing things I have learned from my friends, but lets start the list at service, love, spiritual maturity, and responsibility. My friends make me want to be a better person, and I am grateful for the times they share with me. I really believe that "Friends are the family you choose," and I wouldn't choose any differently. I love you guys!
5. My bike - Ok, it kinda surprises me that this one isn't higher on the list. ;) I really, truly, deeply love my bike. I know when life gets stressful and I need a moment to figure things out I can hop on for a ride and feel better in just minutes. Without my bike, I would be lost! I don't know what I am gonna do when it snows...
6. My body - yeah, it is true, I love my body! Kind of a weird thing to say, I know, but God gave me an amazing body that dances, runs, bikes, skates, swims, laughs, and plays whenever possible, and I am grateful for it! I love to use my body! It makes me feel so good to get out and move. Who cares about looking like a "model"?! Just have fun! Get outside and move, and you will never regret what you've got!
7. My major - sometimes I complain that the accounting program is taking over my life. While that is true, is it such a bad thing? I have friends who know exactly what I am going through and are there to support me. The accounting program pays for my social activities on the weekends, feeds me, gets me free backpacks and shirts, and basically takes care of my every need - not to mention it is ranked #2 in the United States! I am lucky to be part of such an amazing program, and I am trying hard not to forget that!
8. My job - I genuinely love my job, and am very, very sad that I have to quit! My job has been a major blessing in my life, financially and emotionally. There is a support system at work that I have never experienced anywhere else, I care about everybody, and they all care about me! From the supervisors to the new hires, thank you so much for being a part of my life. You all really mean a lot to me!
9. My ward - I don't know many people in my ward yet, but everyone I have met is so friendly and kind. I tis nice to know that I have a spiritual safety net in the members of my ward, especially with the relief society sisters and my FHE group. I feel uplifted when I am around them. It is strange, but even though I don't know everybody, I love them all.
10. Scriptures - I have learned more from the scriptures this semester than I have my entire life! It is truly amazing how God can speak to me so strongly through the scriptures. I discovered so many answers to my personal struggles. It comforts me to know that God is looking out for me and knows everything that I am going through.
11. Prayer - there is a plaque in the Law School Library that simply says, "Prayer changes things." It is true. Prayer does change things. I have seen prayer work miracles in people's lives, including my own. God listens to and answers prayers. He loves us and wants us to be happy. That doesn't mean her will take away our trials, but it does mean he won't leave us alone during them. I am grateful for the power of prayer in my life.
12. The priesthood - guess what? God's priesthood is on the earth, and men are working miracles in the Lord's name every day! I am blessed to have a father, brother, and two brother-in-laws who are worthy priesthood holders, and they are all great examples to me. I know that priesthood blessings come from God, and I am grateful for it. Priesthood blessings, from people I am close with or near strangers, have given me guidance in tough times, and I am grateful, once again, for God's knowledge of me individually. His love is more than I could ever ask for!
13. Prophets - this weekend is general conference, and I have never been more excited to hear the Prophets of God give me guidance on how I can make my life even better. I know they are inspired, and can touch us all if we will just listen. I will listen! I will listen!

10. Scriptures - I have learned more from the scriptures this semester than I have my entire life! It is truly amazing how God can speak to me so strongly through the scriptures. I discovered so many answers to my personal struggles. It comforts me to know that God is looking out for me and knows everything that I am going through.
11. Prayer - there is a plaque in the Law School Library that simply says, "Prayer changes things." It is true. Prayer does change things. I have seen prayer work miracles in people's lives, including my own. God listens to and answers prayers. He loves us and wants us to be happy. That doesn't mean her will take away our trials, but it does mean he won't leave us alone during them. I am grateful for the power of prayer in my life.
12. The priesthood - guess what? God's priesthood is on the earth, and men are working miracles in the Lord's name every day! I am blessed to have a father, brother, and two brother-in-laws who are worthy priesthood holders, and they are all great examples to me. I know that priesthood blessings come from God, and I am grateful for it. Priesthood blessings, from people I am close with or near strangers, have given me guidance in tough times, and I am grateful, once again, for God's knowledge of me individually. His love is more than I could ever ask for!
13. Prophets - this weekend is general conference, and I have never been more excited to hear the Prophets of God give me guidance on how I can make my life even better. I know they are inspired, and can touch us all if we will just listen. I will listen! I will listen!

Waren and I are over
I never want to see him again.
(for those of you who are not in the accounting program, the "Waren" case is the 60 hour project I have been working on over the past two weeks. sorry to disappoint, but he is a project, not a boy. I will be much more clear and detailed when I have one of those in my life!)

The Accounting Program...
So I started the accounting program this week! Here are the changes it has brought about:
I had to change my permanent mailing address to 1820 Herald B Lee Library
I have been adopted into a new family called "5.2" and have thought about officially changing my name.
I am intimately involved with Waren. I spend every waking moment with him, and I spend my nights dreaming about him. I really think this relationship could go places...hopefully by next Monday
Well, I hope you all feel updated in my life, that is about all I have time to write about now, but stay tuned for an update about the new members of my family!

Homeless
For anyone who doesn't know yet, I was ousted from my old apartment last Friday, but I can't move into my new place till next Friday. That gives me two whole weeks of homelessness. So how do I like it? Not a lot!
It is very sad/unnerving to not have a place to call home. Luckily, I have some awesome friends in Provo who have lent me their couches, and one amazing sister in Spanish Fork who even has a bed for me! I feel blessed to know so many generous people who let me stay with them.
I guess I just wanted to give a shout out to all those who have lent me a pillow to lay on:

Things I Love About Summer in Provo
Music Videos!
Summer is full of free time that I can use how I want to...I use it making music videos! My roommates and I made a video to "See You Again" by Miley Cyrus.
FHE
Okay, this is at FHE. We are playing a game that I mastered as a freshman oh so long ago...just imagine, nylons filled with flour. Yeah, it is just that good.
Mountain Biking
Summer is a time of KILLER BIKE EXPOS! I rode mountain bikes ranging in value from $4 - $8 thousand dollars all summer long. Life was definitely good.
Pretty Little Girls in Pretty Little Dresses
I love spending time with Addison! This summer I have played with her every week, and sometimes more often than that. She is the greatest niece I have ever had! ;)
Le Tour de France
I know that this is technically in France, but I got to watch the race every day I was here because my boss was nice enough to change my schedule so I could watch! Talk about flexible. The best summer ever!

Mama Mia! What a show!
Wow! I went and saw this movie last week and I LOVED it! With songs like "Dancing Queen," "Super Trooper," and "Take a Chance on Me," who could ask for anything more?
The only mild disappointment is that Peirce Brosnan looks weird when he sings. This was definitely not his best screen moment. I like him better as Bond!
I like to think that when I have my midlife crisis, I will spend it jumping on beds, singing, dreaming of attractive men, and sleeping around on hidden islands just like Mama Mia!

Still Dreaming
So, after much deliberation, I decided that my dream bike would be this one. The Specialized 2008 era FSR Marathon, alloy pink. It goes for about $4,400, but Specialized has just come out with their '09 bikes, so this one should be going sale soon, right? :)

My Best Friend's Wedding
Ruth Decker became Ruth Plater on Friday, July 18, 2008.
Ruth and Jordan's reception was very bitter-sweet for me. Sweet because my best friend is starting the happiest, most fulfilling part of her life! Bitter because I am not moving along in the same stage of life with her.
I know I will miss the times we shared, and the silly things we used to do, but life is about changes. Marriage is truly one of the most joyful changes in life. I have always suppressed any desire I had move into this stage . . . I don't wanna grow up! But seeing my best friend make that commitment - to truly grow up and start living life how it should be lived - has really inspired me.
Don't get the wrong idea! I am not marriage crazy, but I think I am more open for change now. I am open to the idea that life could take me down a path I don't expect.
For now, I am doing my best. Where that will take me, I have no idea. Marriage, a career, a mission . . . I guess we will just have to wait and see. The suspense kind of keeps life interesting though, don't you think?
